Leading tennis manufacturers such as Wilson, Babolat, Head, Technifibre, Prince, and Yonex produce both pressurized and pressureless balls. In regular play and official matches, pressurized balls are primarily used. These gas-filled tennis balls are fast and offer excellent bounce characteristics. Gas is injected during production to create a constant internal pressure. You will notice that these balls are delivered in special pressurized packaging to maintain this pressure. Over time, the pressure escapes and the balls lose their bounce. Therefore, pressurized balls must be replaced regularly, depending on play frequency, hitting power, and court surface. Pressureless tennis balls have a significantly longer lifespan and are popular for training or ball machines. They are not as fast as pressurized balls and are easier to control, making them ideal training balls for beginners or occasional players. Felt quality also affects durability; low-quality felt wears down quickly, causing inconsistent bounces. For beginners, methodology balls with reduced pressure are softer and slower, increasing reaction time. These are divided into stages (Stage 1 to 3). Giant balls are also available—perfect for coordination games, autographs, or as gifts.
