Recreational & Junior Rackets: Every Beginning is Easy
In this category, you'll find lighter aluminum rackets for juniors and beginners. They are the perfect choice for children who are still too small for a Performance Racket or are holding a racket for the first time. At Tennis Factory, you'll also get the right bag, the correct backpack, and matching strings or a grippy overgrip for your first racket.
Which Racket Size for Which Body Height?
For your child to have fun from the start and to protect their joints, the correct racket length is crucial. Use our table as a rule of thumb:
| Body Height (approx.) | Age (approx.) | Racket Length (Inches) |
|---|---|---|
| up to 90 cm | 2 - 4 years | 17" / 19" |
| 100 - 115 cm | 4 - 6 years | 21" |
| 115 - 130 cm | 6 - 8 years | 23" |
| 130 - 145 cm | 9 - 10 years | 25" |
| from 145 cm | 11+ years | 26" or adult model |
Comfort Rackets: Maximum Arm Protection & Power
As the name suggests, a comfort racket allows for relaxed playing pleasure. Due to its special construction, you need significantly less power compared to a tournament racket to get depth and speed into your shots. This protects your joints and provides lasting relief for your arm.
Frequently Asked Questions about Beginner & Junior Rackets
Aluminum rackets are cheaper and lighter – perfect for the very first steps. Graphite rackets (Performance) offer more feel and power, but are more delicate upon contact with the ground.
As soon as your child trains regularly, plays longer rallies, and has mastered the technique, switching to a graphite model (Junior Performance) is worthwhile to protect the arm muscles through less vibration.
For junior rackets, we recommend pressure-reduced balls (Stage 3/Red, Stage 2/Orange, or Stage 1/Green), as these fly slower and are better suited to the weight of recreational rackets.
